I am seeing today for the first time the impact of Google+ on the natural results of the google SERP.
Here, two people in one of my Google+ circle have recommended the Skins.net website. Their names is displayed under the result for the site.
This could be a real game changer for Google. In terms of algorithm, we are probably not very far to re-ordering results based on the total number of +1s.
It will also lead to a real headache for SEO practicioners..
Have you seen more signs of Google+ impacting on Search yet?
How To Optimize For Facebook’s New ‘Like’ Functionality
Search Engine Land yesterday published a great article explaining how to optimise your website for the new Facebook “Like” fonction. It is not all that dissimilar to SEO on-site optimisation, for example using the right meta-data to influence the text used by Facebook on user streams:
<meta property=”og:tag name” content=”tag value”/>
Full details and example in the article. Good Like optimisation!
